Visa extends Formula E partnership

With less than a week until the first race of the 2015/16 FIA Formula E season, Visa Europe has announced that it will extend its partnership as the official payment partner of the series for a further three seasons.

As such, Visa Europe will continue to lend its name to the Visa Fastest Lap Award – with two bonus points and a bespoke trophy awarded to the quickest racer at each event.

Alejandro Agag, CEO of Formula E, added: “We are delighted that Visa Europe has decided to become the Official Payment Partner of Formula E globally. Last season they demonstrated through the sponsorship of the London ePrix and the Fastest Lap initiative the kind of innovation and leadership on which Formula E thrives. Visa is a company with worldwide recognition and a reputation for pioneering technology, qualities that I believe makes them a perfect fit for Formula E. This partnership once again shows the burgeoning profile and success of Formula E.”

Visa Europe signed on to become an official Championship partner during the series’ inaugural season, having announced the deal on the eve of the Monaco ePrix.

Commenting on the sponsorship, Mark Antipof, Chief Officer, Sales and Marketing at Visa Europe said: “Visa Europe’s partnership with Formula E is the perfect combination of two truly innovative brands. Formula E is driving the change towards an electric future and reinventing motorsport, while here at Visa, we’re reinventing payments by pioneering technologies to make payments faster, simpler and more secure. We seek partners that match our commitment to innovation and leadership, so it was therefore natural for us to extend our support of this evolutionary sport through a global sponsorship for the next three years.”

The second season of the FIA Formula E Championship gets underway in Beijing on 24th October.
