On the eve of Formula E’s first race on the historic streets of Monaco, the series announced that it has signed a multi-race sponsorship deal with Visa Europe.
The deal takes immediate effect and will continue until the end of the 2014/2015 season, which concluded with a double header race at Battersea, London on June 27th-28th.
It is yet another sign of the growing recognition of the sport, with major corporations eager to partner with the all-electric racing series. It follows the recent announcement that over 180 cities are vying for a place on the calendar for future seasons.
At the announcement event, Mark Antipof, Chief Officer of Sales and Marketing at Visa Europe, stated that the partnership would look to further place fans at the heart of races through a mix of social, digital and traditional marketing activations, which will be revealed over the coming weeks. The company’s logo will also feature on trackside advertising banners.
Speaking at the press conference, Formula E CEO, Alejandro Agag, stated: “Formula E aims to drive the change towards an electric future, while promoting clean energy and sustainability. Visa Europe’s clear commitment towards innovation, extensive experience within the market and broad audience reach makes this partnership a clear and bold step towards realising this future.”
